Watch World-Class Strength Athletes Get Schooled in Arm Wrestling By Pro Sarah Bäckman

Powerlifter Stefi Cohen set three new world records in 2020, and she’s always looking to train with other tops athletes. She recently worked out with record setting deadlifter Jamal Browner, strongman Eddie Hall, fellow powerlifter and online personality Jujimufu, and WWE wrestlers Sarah Logan and Erik. For her latest video, she’s training with her friend, bodybuilder Kristen Nun, as she gets a lesson in arm wrestling from 8-time Swedish arm wrestling champion Sarah Bäckman.

She starts warming up with Cohen on the arm wrestling table with hands interlocked, doing a series of wrists chest and shoulder moves to loosen up. Slowly, they add in resistance, and Cohen gets used to the motions.

Nun steps up to the table next, and Bäckman discusses technique.

“The general rule of arm wrestling is not pushing sideways. Take that out of your mind. Arm wrestling is pulling towards yourself,” says Bäckman.

She shows Nun how to correctly set herself up, including her stance. Cohen’s boyfriend Hayden Bowe steps up next, and after a bunch or warmups, he has a match with Bäckman and barely clinches a win.

“I’m so disappointed in myself!” says Bäckman, as Bowe shows off a gnarly thumb imprint on his hand from the match.

Cohen warms up again, and is absolutely loving it.

“I love learning about different sports with women. I think they pay more attention to detail,” says Cohen. “A step-by-step of what each body part needs to be doing during the match… we’re learning how to utilize our bodies.”

Nun gets more instruction from Bäckman, then has a match with Cohen. Nun takes the first match, and they set up for round two. Cohen lets out some primal screams, but Nun takes the second match too.

“You did great! I’m very proud of all of you,” says Bäckman.
